| “Cancer
represents a tremendous burden on patients, families and societies…
Almost seven million people die each year of cancer, and many
of these deaths can be avoided if appropriate measures are
put in place to prevent, early detect, cure and care…
The non-governmental organisations have to be involved,
committed and participate - and even lead this movement. That
has to be complemented by the government and the international
organisations, like WHO. But none of these entities can do
it alone."
Dr
LEE Jong-wook
Director-General,WHO
(2003-2006)

Partners
The
fight against cancer is at a turning point. In close partnership
with patient and survivor support networks, national cancer
societies, international health organisations, public health
specialists and government line ministries, the International
Union Against Cancer (UICC) is in a unique position to pool
resources and expertise to contain the further spread of
this deadly disease.
Below
are some of UICC's partners on the World Cancer Campaign.
Not mentioned are UICC World Cancer Campaign partners that
have contributed financial support but have expressly requested
to remain anonymous.
